Southport placed 10th out of 12 teams at the Marion County meet on Oct. 3 at Brebeuf Preparatory School. According to Coach Mr. Dennis Bruce that is the worst they have ever placed in the county meet. Last year, Southport placed 4th.

“It was a really tough course,” said junior Jack Thompson. “It was very muddy and not the best conditions. Some of the runners ran well, but a lot of our varsity runners are still getting through injuries.”

Senior Tim Mosier dropped out of the meet because of illness and senior Lance Nelson ran his first meet of the season and topped all Cardinal performers with a time of 16:47. According to Nelson, he didn’t run as well as he wanted to, but it was a starting point. No varsity members got PRs at the meet.
