The rematch was a repeat.

No. 3 Randallstown High built a 16-point halftime lead to turn away New Town, 70-60, in a Baltimore County 1A/2A boys' basketball contest on Offutt Road Wednesday evening. Junior foward Brandon Young scored 16 points for the defending county champ Rams (12-2 overall, 3-0 league), and junior Alex Jackson and freshman Terrard Ansar each added 11.

Last month in Owings Mills, Randallstown posted a 70-64 victory over the defending Class 1A state champion Titans. The Rams overcame an 11-point second half deficit, but Wednesday's overcome had greater significance with a share of first place on the line.

Junior guard Stuart Clarke had a game-high 26 points for New Town (7-6, 2-1), and Kendrick Brown and James Black contributed 13 and 12, respectively. The Titans host Western Tech Friday evening in league action.  Randallstown will be awarded a forfeit win Friday against Chesapeake-Baltimore County, which season was recently suspended. The Rams play at Western Tech Wednesday evening.

Eastern Tech 64, Overlea 61

Mike Holden scored a game-high 31 points, and Ryan Scholthauer finished with 17 as Eastern Tech snapped Overlea's four-game winning streak Wednesday evening.

The Mavericks (4-7, 3-0) outscored the Falcons, 20-3, from the free throw line to remain unbeaten in league play. B.J. Smith and Earl Davis led Overlea (10-5, 2-1) with 16 points, and Chris Jones added 12.

Eastern Tech will host Owings Mills Friday evening for at least a share of first place. Overlea travels to Loch Raven for league action.

Owings Mills 72, Lansdowne 52

Mark Evans scored 13 points, and Michael Kleeman and Karron Hunter each contributed 12 as Owings Mills remained unbeaten in league play. Kevin Moore had 11 for the Eagles (11-2, 3-0), who've won seven of eight contests since a two-point at then-No. 2 St. Frances in December.

Junior Charles Butler led Lansdowne (0-9, 0-4) with 14 points. The Vikings will be awarded a forfeit victory Friday against Carver A&T, which season was recently suspended. Lansdowne's next game is Wednesday at Pikesville. Owings Mills will travel to Eastern Tech Friday evening for sole possession of first.

Pikesville 54, Western Tech 53

Zach Anzaroot scored 16 points and junior Devan Gilmore chipped in 12 as Pikesville upended Western Tech in Catonsville Wednesday. The Panthers (9-4, 2-2) had dropped their previous two games against defending state champs Randallstown (Class 2A) and New Town (1A).

Donzel Mooney had a game-high 17 points for Western Tech, which travels to New Town Friday evening. Pikesville will host Sparrows Point.
