On Saturday, November 1, St. Joseph's Sr. Captain, Steven Fowler, will travel to Greensboro, NC, and represent the Knight's wrestling team in the prestigous Super 32 Tournament.
Super 32 organizers call the tournament "The fastest growing, most competitive preseason tournament in the country!" In 2007, this tournament featured 1,250 wrestlers from 34 states (including over 175 state champions), and again will be held in on 20 wrestling mats in the Special Events Center at the Greensboro Coliseum in Northwest North Carolina.
Steven is entering his third, and final season as a Knight. In both 2007 and 2008, Steven ended each season with an Individual SCISA State Championship. Fowler, wanting to get the most out of his final year at St. Joseph's, has been wrestling all year, and all across the country. Steven has been training with some of the best wrestlers in the Upstate, including wrestlers from Eastside and Hillcrest. He has also attended training camps at The Citadel, Purdue University, and Newberry College, working with college-level wrestlers on techniques and intense training situations.
Steven is the first St. Joseph's wrestler to compete in this competitive preseason tournament. He will be wrestling in the 160 lb. weight class, which includes nine state finalists and two All-Americans from various states, including Alaska, Virgina, Indiana, California, Pennsylvania, Ohio, New Jersey, and Texas.
