Jamar Briscoe had a game-high 21 points and Maurice Byers added 16, leading Cardinal Gibbons to a 67-47 victory over St. John's Catholic Prep in a Baltimore Catholic League game in west Baltimore Sunday afternoon. The Crusaders (8-6, 3-3) bounced back from their one-point loss to No. 8 John Carroll Friday, outscoring the Frederick school, 39-13, in the second half.
Freshman Grady Glaze scored 18 points to lead St. John's Catholic (5-7, 1-6), which defeated McDonogh School Friday after taking top-ranked Mount St. Joseph into overtime Thursday before succumbing. Trenton Epps contributed 10.
Gibbons, which was won four of its last five decisions, will host Catonsville in a non-league contest Tuesday evening before returning to league play at Towson Catholic Friday evening. St. John's Catholic will begin a three-game home stand, beginning Tuesday evening against Calvert Hall College.
