Hoosier Crossroads Conference CoordinatorFISHERS – When the competitors teed off for a triangular golf match April 1 at Ironwood Golf Club between fifth-ranked Carmel, No. 3 Hamilton Southeastern, and Westfield, they might’ve thought they were a part of an April Fool’s Day joke.
You see, the temperature was in the 40s, the wind was howling, and the course was absolutely soaked. I can attest to the soggy links, having ruined a new pair of blue jeans while shooting the video highlights that can be found at the end of this article!
Well, it was indeed no joke, and through it all Carmel held up best under the treacherous conditions, posting a winning score of 163 on Ironwood’s par-36 Lakes Course layout. Hamilton Southeastern was the runner-up with a score 171, while Westfield finished third at 186.
Hamilton Southeastern sophomore Wes Bowman took medalist honors, posting a nine-hole score of 37. Carmel golfers Connor O’Neal and Adam Schneider tied for second as each carded a round of 4-over par 40.
