Urbana came out firing and never relented Tuesday night as it beat Quince Orchard 85-45 in the Cougar Holiday Classic championship.

Eleven different players scored for the Hawks (8-0), led by tournament Most Valuable Player Zack Cooper, who notched 21 points including 12 on three-pointers.

"They just shot phenominally tonight," Quince Orchard Coach Paul Foringer said. "I don't know if anybody could have beaten Urbana tonight. When the other team plays as good as they played, I don't feel so bad about it."

Urbana’s Brad Hickman chipped in 16 points and Mac Kennedy led the Cougars in scoring with 15.

When we practice at Urbana, we work on a lot of shooting," Cooper said. "It could be any of our guys. I just happened to be the guy who got hot tonight."

The Hawks jumped out to a 10-0 lead to start the game behind Kevin Sowers and Cooper and pushed its lead to 21-5 by the end of the first quarter. Urbana’s Jamie Lowe gave the Hawks a spark off the bench early on.

Quince Orchard (6-2) fought back a bit in the second quarter and went shot-for-shot with the Hawks for a stretch, but Urbana was just too much from behind the arch.

"We struggled the entire game," Foringer said. "They are very physical, very aggressive and they made just about all their shots in the first half. ... We've got to be aggressive or we're going to take it on the chin."

Urbana knocked down nine three-pointers in the game and the Hawks led 62-32 entering the fourth quarter. Quince Orchard struggled once again from the free throw line, converting just 14-of-27 attempts.

Cougars guard Evan Sirkey (9 points) and Urbana’s Sowers were named to the All-Tournament team.

CONSOLATION: Poolesville 56, Blair 31

After a tough loss against Quince Orchard in the Cougar Holiday Classic semifinals, Poolesville took care of business in the consolation finals, beating Blair 56-31.

Kevin Baker led Poolesville with 24 points and Brendan McFall had eight.

Poolesville (3-4) jumped out to an 8-0 lead to start the game and finished the first quarter ahead 19-5.

Blair had a glimmer of hope when it scored the first bucket of the second quarter, but Baker drilled a three-pointer right after, then had a pair of assists to Dane Hanscom and finally another three-pointer.

Poolesville led 37-14 at the half and continued to roll in the second half. Mike McLain was the lone bright spot for the Blazers as he led the team with seven points.

McClain was named to the All-Touranment team along with Poolesville’s Baker.
