This series has seen a handful of streaks in the last 11 years.

The Warriors won four straight games from 1998 to 2001, followed by a five-year tear by the Jaguars that lasted until 2006. Wakefield has claimed the last two games, including a 31-21 win last year.

Five of those 11 games were decided by 10 points or less and Falls Church holds a scoring advantage 274-208, an average score of 25-19.

Now that I feel smart, I can say that both of these teams are in need of a rebound.

Wakefield has not been closer than 20 points to any AAA opponent and Falls Church has only been with 20 points twice, one a 42-point win over Jefferson.

Both teams fell hard to district opponents last week.

The Warriors showed some promise with junior quarter Vincent Roberts, whose five-yard rushing touchdown accounted for their only first-half points, and senior running back Boubacar Diallo, who had a team-high 109 rushing yards on only six attempts.

For the Jags, senior running back Marcus Hughes is continues his campaign for all-district honors as he went over 200 yards for the second time this season last week at Yorktown.

He has 749 rushing yards on 110 carries with eight touchdowns this year. Seven of those scores and 550 of the yards have come in the last three weeks.

Expect a heavy dose of Hughes, especially if Falls Church can grab an early lead. Keeping him under 120 yards has to be the target for Wakefield.
