Walter Johnson's eight-year win streak over Whitman came to an end Friday night, 6-4.
Despite heavy rains that started in warm-ups, the Walter Johnson-Whitman rivalry has never been more heated.
The game was pretty sloppy at first, but Walter Johnson jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead. Walter Johnson went on to take a 4-2 lead by the end of the half.
Whitman came out on fire in the third quarter and knotted it up 4-4. Whitman scored a few fast-break goals and the Wildcats had several quick possessions resulting in turnovers.
Whitman continued its solid second-half play, holding Walter Johnson scoreless in the second half. The Wildcats were emotionally dominated in the second half.
Walter Johnson had eight man-down penalties, though only scored one goal off of it and Whitman dominated face-offs.
