Barry Muller threw scoring passes of 10 and 11 yards to Bryan Green, and Rashad Cromer rushed for a 65-yard touchdown as Western Tech overcame an early deficit to beat Chesapeake, 18-7, in Baltimore County Class 1A League action on Friday night.

The win by the Wolverines (4-5 overall, 3-1 league) over the Bayhawks (7-2, 3-1) forged a three-way tie for the conference lead following a 35-26 victory by Sparrows Point (8-1, 3-1) over New Town (3-6, 2-2).

Chesapeake was an earlier, 8-6 winner over Sparrows Point, which has beaten Western Tech, 30-22.

New Town plays host to Chesapeake next Saturday, Sparrows Point is at Pikesville, and Western Tech plays Owings Mills in the final regular-season games for the six-team division.

Western Tech entered the contest trailing Sparrows Point, Chesapeake, Carroll County's South Carroll (4-5), New Town and Frederick County's Catoctin (4-5) in its quest for one of the top four seeds in the Class 1A North Region.

"We can still make the playoffs," said Wolverines' coach Al Lagon, noting victories by South Carroll and Catoctin on Friday night. "But we'll need some help."
