You can bet the Whiteland warriors have some lofty goals of all sorts these days, but Friday night their number one goal was taking care of business in the Mid-State Conference. Whiteland needed to beat Decatur central to guarantee they would possess the conference championship outright. They left little doubt as they crushed the hawks 35-14 in the season finale. The win caps off an undefeated conference and regular season for the warriors.

As it turned out, Whiteland did need the win to claim sole possession of the crown. That is because Plainfield took care of business and defeated Greenwood 35-17. The victory left the Quakers 5-1 in league play and 7-2 overall. That is good enough for sole control of second place in the conference.

The remaining conference tilt saw Martinsville spring a minor upset of inconsistent Franklin. The Artesians came up with a stellar defensive effort in taking the 14-6 victory. Mooresville took out some of its frustration from the past two weeks with a 42-0 shellacking of non-conference foe Franklin County.
