Severna Park High School boys lacrosse team to a 12-4 victory over visiting
Old Mill in the Class 4A-3A East Region quarterfinals Saturday.
The Falcons (14-3) will host
South River (11-4) -- a 10-9 winner over
Broadneck -- in the region semifinals Monday at 7:15 p.m. It will be the teams' third meeting in 11 days. Severna Park won the regular-season finale, 11-5, and took the county championship last Tuesday, 10-7.
"We just have to play our game," said Falcons' coach Larry Kramer, whose team held a four-goal lead at halftime Saturday but opened it up in the second half.
"We saw film on (South River) in their game against Broadneck and I think we're ready. When it's this late in the season, you can't change much. Both teams are going to come out and do what they do best."
Junior goalkeeper Tyler Bresnhan tallied 12 saves for the Patriots (5-12), but it wasn't enough as the Severna Park reserves took aim after the break.
"We wanted to put them away early and let our starters get some rest," Kramer said. "The younger guys came in a got some good work in. In the playoffs, we don't get too many practices so it worked out well."
Junior attackers Sean Price and Sam Jones tallied a goal and an assist each while senior goalkeeper Andrew Gvozden had six saves and surrendered just one goal in three quarters of work.
Junior midfielder Thomas Sillaman, junior attacker Drew Cyrus, sophomore attacker Justin Ward and senior midfielder Jay Clark each found the net for Old Mill.
