Bryn Mawr defeated Notre Dame Prep, 3-1 (25-19, 12-25, 25-20, 25-22) today. The Mawrtian attack was led by Theo Matthai (18 kills, 19-21 serving, 5 aces, 14 digs), Cleo Baker (14 kills, 7-9 serving, 7 digs), Carly Chafey (34 assists, 17-18 serving, 3 aces, 7 digs) and Hannah Klarner (16-16 serving, 1 ace, 21 digs). Game #1: Notre Dame Prep led 8-6, but after a sideout to make it 8-7, Theo Matthai sparked a 10 point run for Bryn Mawr, as the Mawrtians took a 17-9 lead on the way to a 25-19 first game win. The Blazers rallied to close the gap to 19-15 before Bryn Mawr finished off the game. Game #2: NDP took charge early, and while holding a 14-9 lead, ran off 9 straight points to go on to an easy game two win. Game #3: Bryn Mawr jumped out to a 10-1 lead behind the serving of Carly Chafey and the hitting of Cleo Baker. Once again, the Blazers managed to cut into the lead and closed the margin to 16-13 before the Mawrtians were able to take game 3 and a 2-1 lead in the match. Game #4: NDP led this tightly contested 4th game by a couple of points most of the way, and held a 21-19 lead. Bryn Mawr, once again behind the serving of Theo Matthai, struck with the next five points to lead 24-21 before finsihing the game at 25-22. An evenly played, hard-fought match. Bryn Mawr outscored NDP over the entire match, 87-86. With the loss, Notre Dame Prep drops to 6-5 with one conference match remaining against Maryvale.
Bryn Mawr, after starting the conference at 0-3, raises it's record to 6-4, tying Baltimore Lutheran (also 6-4) for 2nd place with two matches remaining, including the conference finale between the two teams on Friday, October 19 @ Baltimore-Lutheran.
