Hogan Rosehill lead all scorers with 19 points and added seven rebounds as Kamehameha-Hawaii defeated Kalaheo 55-49 in a opening round game in the boys division one state basketball tournament at McKinley Gym.
A key statistic in the margin of victory was the Warriors 4-of-11 shooting from downtown compared to the Mustangs who went 2-of-11 from behind the three point line.
The Mustangs dominated the boards on the offensive end by a 20-10 margin but could not make the most of second and third chance opportunities. Kalaheo also got a big boost from its bench, outscoring the Warriors 13-5.
Yet, it was Rosehill who scored at least four points in each quarter to pace the Warriors to victory.
KS-Hawaii will meet KS-Maui in the quarterfinal round. Kalaheo will play Campbell in a consolation bracket game.
