Iolani dialed often from long distance in a 67-45 victory in the semi-final round game of the girls division one state basketball tournament at Kaimuki High School Gymnasium.
Things looked bleaked for the Raiders after the first quarter. Trailing 10-7 to Waiakea after shooting 2-for-15 in field goals amd 0-for-7 from the three point line.
However, the Warriors defense were strapped with three starters each picking up two fouls within the first nine minutes of the game.
Iolani responded with a connection from long range in the second and third quarters. The Raiders hit 4-of-6 three point field goals in second and third quarters and outscored the Warriors 36-17.
The Imai sisters, both double digit scorers in the regular season were held in check by the Raider defense. The Warrior duo combined to score just ten points.
Iolani will now meet Punahou in the tournament championship game. Waiakea will face Radford in the third place game. Both games will be played at the Stan Sheriff Arena.
