Patrick Foster's game-winning fifth goal to go with an assist on a sixth goal, and three goals and an assist from Jack Rice helped to lift Boys Latin to Tuesday's 10-9, Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference victory over St. Mary's.

The Lakers (2-2 league, 10-2 overall), ranked 10th in the DigitalSports Top 20 behind the third-ranked Saints (2-2, 10-2, ), used the win to rebound from Friday's 14-6 loss to 15th-ranked Archbishop Spalding, which was coming off of a 17-5 loss to St. Mary's.

Matt Laymon scored three goals and had an assist, and Nick Doub had three goals for the Saints, who play defending league champion Loyola (4-0, 7-2) on Friday while the Lakers face top-ranked, unbeaten MIAA A Conference rival Gilman (4-0, 11-0).

"We lost a game Friday night that we certainly feel that we shouldn't have lost, although Spalding played great lacrosse the other night, and we didn't deserve to win," said Lakers' coach Bob Shriver. "This is a season where we're in flux a little bit. We lost a heartbreaker to Calvert Hall, and then we lose this devastating game to Spalding the other night. We made a lot of changes."

Of the game-winning play, Shriver said Christian Walsh "drove and  through the ball, backside, to Patrick Foster for the game-winner on a great play."
