ML Summer Basketball League update

Derrick Pearson scored a game-high 20 points to lift the Colts (Coolidge) to a 47-45 victory over previously-undefeated The Blue (City) in the quarterfinals of the ML Summer Basketball League tournament Wednesday.

The Colts will meet the Cavaliers (Spalding) -- a 40-38 winner over Southern Md. (Thomas Stone) -- in the semifinals Monday at 6:30 p.m. The other semifinal bout will be between the Rough Riders (Roosevelt) and the Bengals (Duval) and is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. The league final will be Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

Adam Johnson had 17 points for The Blue, which was the top team in the AIR Division and finished its season at 10-1. The Colts improved to 7-4.

Colin Beatty had 23 points for the Bengals, which knocked off Team Semper Fi, 50-28. Andre Moore scored 13 points to lift the Cavaliers (8-3) in their two-point win over Southern Md. In the last quarterfinal, Mike Harris pumped in 16 points and it was just enough to lead the Rough Riders (8-3) past the Saints (St. Mary's), 51-50. Neal Hercules scored 17 for the Saints.
