St. Paul's boys soccer team shuts out St. Mary's 2-0

Crusaders defeat Saints in season opener.

St. Paul’s varsity soccer team shut out St. Mary’s yesterday, 2-0, in a non-conference match-up between teams from the MIAA A and B Conferences, respectively.  The contest was the season opener for St. Paul's, while St. Mary's was coming off of an overtime win against Mount Carmel, last week.

Jeff Fountain scored first for the Crusaders, unassisted, 18 minutes into the first half.  Nick Kurgansky chipped in with the second goal of the game, with a clutch assist from Mike Faby, also in the second half.

Goalie Austin Brown held St. Mary’s to scoreless in the first half with one save, while Alex Mitchell completed the shutout with two saves in the second half.
