Male Athlete of the Week
David Stinebaugh, Perry Hall footballFor the second consecutive week our Male Athlete of the Week award will reside in Perry Hall, as Stinebaugh, the Gators' speedy two-way star, had a huge game on both sides of the ball to lead
Perry Hall to a 34-0 vicory over Governor Thomas Johnson High School in a 4A North Region Semifinal playoff game, Friday night.
Stinebaugh, who will play as college football at the University of Maryland starting next fall, hauled in touchdown passes of 30 and eight yards in the victory and he also had a pair of interceptions and recovered a fumple on defense.
Stinebaugh has been Mr. Everything for the Gators over the last three years and his teammates are accustomed to watching him come up with a big play exactly when it is needed the most. In 2008, he now has nine touchdown catches, seven interceptions and five fumble recoveries. He also handles the team's punting.
This week Stinebaugh will attempt to extend his high school career a bit further, as leads the Gators into Linganore of Frederick County where they will challenge the undefeated Lancers for 4A North Region Championship and a spot in the State Semifinals.
Others considered: Arundel football player Billy Cosh, St. Mary's football player Mark McNeil, Edmondson football player Devon Carpenter.
