The season isn't completely over for the IAAM as two teams competed in the quarterfinals of the Maryland Christian Schools Tournament on Tuesday.

Chapelgate used balanced attack with nine different players scoring in the game to defeat Annapolis Area Christian 52-30.  Although the teams are in difference conferences, the Eagles of the 'C' and the Yellow Jackets of the 'B', the two squared off back in early December with Chapelgate taking the decision 62-43.

"We're playing our best basketball of the season right now," said the Yellow Jackets' head coach Rick Kohr.

Chapelgate pulled arguably the biggest upset of the IAAM post-season in any conference as the Yellow Jackets defeated Mount de Sales, which was the second-seed and had beaten them twice in the regular season, 47-36 in the opening round of the B Conference tournament.  Chapelgate then gave St. Vincent Pallotti all it could handle before falling short 51-46 in the semifinal round.

The Yellow Jackets improved to 9-12 overall with the win but are 6-1 outside of the IAAM.  The Eagles' record is now 11-12 overall.

Julia Groves scored a game-high 13 points and Emily Wolven added 11 in the victory for Chapelgate.

Guards Christina Curro, Morgan Mahaffey and center Kristin Tucker each scored six points for AACS.

The Yellow Jackets have been in the championship game of the Maryland Christian Schools Tournament every year since 2001.  They last won the title in 2006 before losing to Covenant Life in the championship game last year.

Chapelgate now advances to the semifinal round to meet Grace Brethren on Friday at Anne Arundel Community College.  The game is set for 6 p.m.  The other semifinal matchup is between Greater Grace and Elkton Christian at 7:30 p.m.

The MCST Championship game will be held on Saturday at Washington Bible School in Lanham, MD at 5 p.m.
