The semifinals for the IAAM B Conference Tournament are set as Chapelgate Christian, Maryvale Prep, McDonogh School and Notre Dame Prep picked up quarterfinal victories Tuesday afternoon.
Maryvale Prep gained a pass as Annapolis Area Christian forfeited. Eagles’ sophomore pitcher Kiersten Waltz wasn’t able to throw after she was hit in her non-throwing elbow during last week’s game with Notre Dame Prep.
Notre Dame Prep will be Maryvale’s opponent Thursday afternoon in Brooklandville. The teams split during the regular season.
The Blazers scored three runs in the top of the eighth innings for a 5-4 victory in Towson Apr. 7. The Lions returned the favor at home more than two weeks later, 6-0, as Stephanie Schell pitched a one-hitter.
Notre Dame Prep knocked off St. Mary’s, 5-2, as Christine O’Keefe two-run single in the bottom of the sixth snapped a 2-2 tie. Mary Beth Wisniewski struck out 10 in a complete game effort.
Junior catcher Morgan Stampf went 4-for-4 to lead a 13-hit attack, and senior outfielder Maggie Quinn hit a two-run homer in the first inning.
Katie Muldoon drove in both St. Mary’s runs with a single in the sixth. Caroline Klein struck out seven for the Saints.
Behind a two-hitter from Emily Trosch, McDonogh eliminated Catholic, 5-1, in Owings Mills. The Eagles will play No. 1 Chapelgate Christian, which routed Baltimore Lutheran, 12-2.
