Breakdown:

The Panthers two-year reign as IAAM B Conference champs was ended by Severn School last season. With eight returning players, Pallotti should be again in the hunt.

The Laurel school may have the league's most experienced frontline with veterans Jackie Buckley and Maya Pollack, and sophomore Chizoba Ekedigwe, who logged substanial minutes last season as a freshman. The backcourt has Gaby Eldridge, Carolyn Correa and Maddie Goodman back, and Panthers coach Debbie Skelly said all three have improved in their ballhandling.

"We have a lot of chemistry," said Buckley. "A lot of us know where that other person is going to be on the court. We depend on each other a lot."

Skelly said the league will be tougher with the additions of St. Mary's, St. Paul's, Notre Dame Prep from the IAAM A and Garrison Forest from the IAAM C. The Panthers and Severn have ruled the IAAM B, playing in the finals the past four seasons.

"You really can't discount anybody in our conference this year," said Skelly. "They've [Pallotti] worked really hard in the offseason, and it's going to show in the season coming up."
