The Colts move on in the MCT and also eliminate the Mustangs from state playoff contention. Dan Avella hit a two-run homer to continue his recent tear and John Himmelman had a homer as well as part of a two-hit, four-RBI day for the Colts.
CBA will now host Freehold in the quarterfinals.

Class A SouthToms River South 6, Brick 0 Senior left-hander Vinny Vivona came within two outs of a no-hitter as the Indians downed the host Dragons. Vivona, who struck out nine and walked two, had his bid for a no-hitter spoiled with one out in the bottom of the seventh when Brick third baseman Chris Sorice smacked a 2-0 fastball between the third baseman and shortstop.
South took a 3-0 lead in the fourth as junior first baseman Dan Davis drilled an RBI single up the middle to break open the scoreless contest. Junior centerfielder Kevin Gilmore blasted an opposite-field, solo homer with one out in the top of the fifth to give the Indians (14-5) a 4-0 lead. Gilmore was 2 for 3 on the day for the Indians. Senior Ryan Kapp, who reached on a fielder's choice, walk and hit, added five stolen bases for the Indians.
NondivisionalMiddletown North 7, Brick Memorial 3 (Final)The Lions knocked the Mustangs out of state playoff contention, as sophomore Andrew Suralik picks up his first varsity win in his first varsity start. Pat Condon went 3-4 with two stolen bases and two runs scored and Connor Delepine had two hits, including an RBi double for the Lions.
Freehold 13, Keyport 3Msgr. Donovan 13, Mater 1 (5 innings)Third baseman Nick Nigro hit what could be a school-record four home runs in only five innings, finishing 4-for-4 with a career-high seven RBIs. He hit a three-run homer the first, a two-run homer in the second and solo homers in the third and fifth innings.
The Griffins hit six homers in the game, including three in a row in the first inning. Nigro's three-run shot was followed by a homer by Nick Colon, and then Mark Poinsett homered after him.
Travis Paulson went 2-for-2 with a homer in the loss for the Seraphs.
Monmouth 5, Red Bank Catholic 4
The Falcons rallied from a 4-0, first-inning deficit to knock off the Caseys with two outs in the bottom of the seventh on a game-winning, RBI single by junior Gary Woloshin for Woloshin's first varsity hit.
A two-run triple by Andrew Pollina tied the game at four in the bottom of the sixth, and Pollina also hit a solo homer over the scoreboard in right center field earlier in the game. Senior Kyle Fagan (2-2) picked up the win in relief for Monmouth. Matt Slowinski added a solo homer in the fifth inning for the Falcons.
Senior Nick Romano hit a three-run homer in the loss for the Caseys.
Central 8, Lacey 7Steven Figueroa and Chirs Simscuk each had three hits as Central snapped a three-game losing streak with a comeback win over rival Lacey.
Figueroa scored two r
