The Caseys won their 8th division title in 11 years thanks to nine straight divisional wins after an opening day one-goal loss to rival Red Bank, including a 12-8 victory in the rematch.DigitalSports: What were your preseason expectations?
Coach Caprioni: Going in we knew we had a very young team. We lost six seniors, two of them were first team All-Shore and my leading scorers. We knew we had a lot of work ahead of us but thought we could be competitive and fight for the division title.
DigitalSports: Who were your key players and best strengths?
Coach Caprioni: Our seniors did a great job of getting the girls to work together. We don’t have one go-to player but we have a lot of kids that work really hard and play together.
DigitalSports: What was your pivotal moment of season?
Coach Caprioni: Very early on in the season, after losing to RBR by a goal, the girls took the anger and frustration from losing that game and turned it into a positive and it motivated them to work harder. We knew the conference was on the line in the second game (RBC was victorious 12-8)…
DigitalSports: Who was your most improved/biggest surprise player?
Coach Caprioni: The entire team. The team as a whole from the first couple of days to now, the progress is amazing. I think the three seniors (Caroline Christopher, Holly Mannucci, Molly Egan) have a lot to do with that and buying into our philosophy.
