Highlights: Monmouth built a 14-0 halftime lead on the running of Terry Underwood of Matawan and the passing of Rumson’s Pete Graham, holding on despite 225 yards passing by Mike Grant of Southern. Ocean closed the gap on a 74-yard pass from Grant to Turner Pierce of Lakewood and drew within two points with 29 seconds left on a one-yard run by Rob Paneque of Jackson. Long Branch’s Willie Stathum iced the game for Monmouth with a sack that dropped Grant before he could attempt a two-point conversion pass.
