Attention, coaches, administrators and parents: Do you want to nominate a senior student-athlete from the winter season who has excelled in the classroom, on the athletic field and in the community while overcoming adversity for the $1,000 DigitalSports "Applause'' Scholarship? Click here for more.

From the moment she started working with DigitalSports, Freehold Township senior Emily Nassi was a great asset to our coverage of Shore Conference swimming and has shown substantial promise.
She took the initiative to contact us in an effort to help put more of a spotlight on the swimming community, and since then has collaborated with our staff to produce work that stands up to anything a full-time employee could have provided at designated championship swim meets. That helped earn Nassi a $1,000 DigitalSports Media Award, which is presented to a senior student based on the timeliness, originality and accuracy of reporting and content contribution on their school’s DigitalSports website. Nassi, who was also a swimmer for Freehold Township, will be attending the University of Delaware in the fall.
Emily's work is thorough and precise, she was helpful in pointing out story leads and potential interview subjects, and she immediately was able to assist our staff on the ins and outs of the swimming scene.
She showed she was willing to go the extra mile to do a thorough job by giving event-by-event breakdowns of championship meets, and provided stories with quotes from the winners at meets in which she was actually participating as a swimmer herself. That showed the ability to focus on multiple tasks at a sprawling event, and it also showed her ability to organize her time to still compete and yet also get the necessary interviews for a story on the event.
In just a short time working with her, our staff saw all of the qualities in Emily that we would look for in any prospective employee, and they are qualities I also would think any school would be searching for as well – hard-working, disciplined, eager to learn and improve, pleasant to interact with, thorough and talented.
