09/16/2009 - CORAL GABLES STARING OUT WITH A SHUT OUT
Coral Gables' boys' junior varsity football team defeated Ronald W.Reagan/Doral High School, 26-0, in a district contest Wednesday.
This was the season-opener for the Cavaliers, who were led by Ernest Felton, who with only six carries rushed for an impressive 184 yards. Felton also had a kickoff return of 87 yards and thew for a 40-yard touchdown for a total of 311 all-purpose yards.
Jarrett Best also went 2-for-4 for 55 yards passing and carried the ball six times for 30 yards.
The defense was exceptional, allowing just 14 yards and one first down. The Cavaliers' leading tacklers were Kristopher Fuller, Mateus Tuon, and Robert Zaldvar.
The game was stopped at the ending of the third quarter because of lightning.
Coral Gables will next host Miami Senior at 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 30.
