Elizabeth Walsh defeated Ebony Henderson of Petersburg to advance to the Central District finals. Walsh will face off against Darya Uzzell of Matoaca.
Prince George,
Petersburg and
Matoaca battled it out in the singles semifinals of the Central District girls tennis tournament on Wednesday.
Darya Uzzell of Matoaca took on
Stephanie Eldin of Prince George and
Ebony Henderson faced Prince George's
Elizabeth Walsh.
Uzzell was unstoppable as she was able to defeat Eldin 8-2.
"It was a good win and I was prepared," Uzzell said. "She (Eldin) was good, I felt like my angles got her. I am just waiting for the finals."
Walsh was able to defeat Henderson 8-2 and will face the hard hitting Uzzell in the finals.
The doubles tournament was just as exciting.
Prince George had two teams in the quarterfinals.
Eldin and Walsh paired up and defeated
Hopewell's Welmot and
Horat 8-0.
The Royals other team of
Lamb and
Cash did not have such a dominating performance as their teammates.
They were able to defeat the
Colonial Heights' team of
Jones and
Braitwaite in a tie breaker 7-4.
Matoaca's Uzzell and
Raqsdall defeated
Akers and
Barnes of Colonial Heights 8-1 and on the far court Petersburg's Henderson and
Dana took on
Dinwiddie's Diaz and
Tucker.
Diaz and Tucker advanced winning 8-4.
In the semifinal match ups, Walsh and Eldin defeated Uzzell and Raqsdall 8-1 and will advance to the finals to meet Dinwiddie's Diaz and Tucker who defeated Prince George's Lamb and Cash 8-2.
