Ronnie Shaban relaxes by listening to slow jams and stays healthy by eating his vegetables. It is just too bad he is a Red Sox fan.
Ronnie Shaban, Cosby Titans
Height: 6-1
Age: 18
Position: Shortstop/Pitcher
Year: Senior
Performance: Shaban gave up only two runs on the mound and went 2 for 4 with an RBI as
Cosby beat James River. He was also 4 for 4 with two homers and two singles in the Titans’ win over L.C. Bird. Cosby is 14-1 and
ranked first in the DigitalSports Top 10.
On last week’s performances: “I knew I had to pitch a good game against James River because they are a really good team. It was a big win and the defense played well behind. Against Bird I was getting some good pitches to hit and I was seeing the ball well.”
Best trait: “My leadership, we have a veteran team but someone has to do it.”
Something to improve on: “My foot speed, I always want to improve on that. Staying polished in all the other aspects of the game, too.”
On playing with his younger brother, second baseman Bradley (junior): “It is a lot of fun. We work well together in the middle. It makes things a lot easier with communication since we grew up playing together.”
Favorite music: “I like all kinds of music. I listen to rap, R&B, country and rock.”
Favorite food: Asparagus and cucumbers
Something you wouldn’t know: “I like to listen to slow jams by Avant, Neo and Joe.”
Funniest teammates: “Chase Cox (left field) and
Matt Daffron (infield). Chase is just a funny guy, always making jokes. Matt is just a crazy kid. “
Favorite class: Dual-enrollment
Favorite MLB team: Red Sox
On playing at Virginia Tech next year: “I’m really looking forward to it. I’m looking forward to going in there and trying to contribute right away.”
