Jake Mayers was the most dominant pitcher in the Capital District this past season and he will try to be the top hurler again in his senior campaign.
Jake Mayers was the bread and butter of the
Hanover lineup this past season.
That's what Hawks coach
Charlie Dragum said when asked about his Capital District player of the year.
Mayers, a three-year starter, stepped up this season as Hanover's go-to pitcher.
Whenever Dragum needed a win he was more than confident to put the ball in Mayers' hands.
His hands handled the bat pretty well too, as he was one of the Hawks more dangerous batters.
Mayers helped Hanover win the district regular season and tournament title before the team fell to James River in the Central Region quarterfinals.
The junior was honored as a first-team all-region selection and there is a high probability even more success is on the horizon for himself and Hanover next year.
