The
James River right-hander throws one of the most electric fastballs in the Central Region, easily and regularly reaching the mid-90s.
Strong and tall Marrs looks to be the prototypical major league pitcher. In fact he was selected in the 40th round of this year's MLB draft by the Philadelphia Phillies.
But Marrs will most likely continue his career for now at Wake Forest along with DigitalSports baseball player of the year and teammate
Austin Stadler.
The two made up a dynamic one-two starting pitching combo that helped propel the Rapids to back-to-back state Group AAA championships. James River also won the Dominion District and region tournaments.
Marrs was selected as a
DigitalSports player of the week in April after throwing a no-hitter against Clover Hill and was also named to the all-region second team.
