Basketball is here!

Here are the top 10 questions concerning the boys and girls basketball season!
Answers from DigitalSports fans!

1. Can Travis McKie, Maurice Johnson, Randall Ward and John Marshall take it a step further and earn a state Group AAA title?

I think this team will be in the final four of the state, but they won’t win it. – Demetrius

With the transfer JM got and all the firepower, no doubt a state title! – John

2. Who will be the surprise team in boys and girls basketball?

Boys, Meadowbrook & Girls, Monacan – Therman

Henrico High School, a lot of quality transfers, still lacking a good frontcourt player first. Monacan girls will be good even with losing their backcourt. – Demetrius

Watch out for the Rebels, three D-I caliber players in Eastman, Brinkley and Giles. – David

3. Which district will be the strongest in boys and girls basketball? Will the Dominion continue to dominate in girls?

I think that the Central District is strongest in the boys and in the girls. – James

Dominion for girls, Capital for boys. – Demetrius

4. Name a player that doesn’t have much fanfare that DigitalSports should watch out for.

David Copeland, Chesterfield Community senior & Doug Brewer, Meadowbrook senior – Therman

Deon Brown, L.C. Bird & Doug Brewer, Meadowbrook senior – James

Doug Brewer, Meadowbrook – Kevin

Rico Ferguson, L.C. Bird & Doug Brewer and Andrew Simmons, Meadowbrook – Anthony

Sophomore Anthony Harris, L.C. Bird, good athlete and great defender. Freshman Micah Thomas at Hermitage High School, great scorer. – Demetrius

Since so many people think Doug Brewer needs some love, DigitalSports Richmond will be out to see him in action very soon!

5. How strong will Benedictine be without Ed Davis, who is at North Carolina now?

Not very strong at all. – Demetrius

I think the Cadets will surprise some people. – John

6. Only a sophomore, will Ka’lia Johnson get Thomas Dale to the girls region final? What college should she commit to?

Too early for me to comment about college, but I think she will take them far in the region. – Demetrius

7. Who will be the new coach of the year?

Maybe the new coach over at Varina [Matt McKeag]. – Demetrius

8. Which school will have the best combination of boys and girls basketball teams?

L.C. Bird, always has strong programs on both sides. – Demetrius

9. After John Marshall, who is the next best boys team? Petersburg? Highland Springs? L.C. Bird?

I think Petersburg is the best team more than John Marshall. I think John Marshall should be a selection. – Anthony

I think Petersburg is the second best boys team in the region. – Demetrius

Why isn’t Doulgas Freeman mentioned? They are returning Jake Eastman, Josh Brinkley, Justin Mann, Billy Giles and Phillip Rohrer. All of these players played a pivotal role in their season last year and they only lost two key players. They schedule the Rebel Invitational with the best teams around every year for a reason, they are one of them. Think about it. – William

10. After Atlee, who is the next best girls team? Cosby? Thomas Dale? Mills Godwin? Deep Run?

Cosby and Thomas Dale are a tie to me. Atlee still has to prove that they can win the big game. – Demetrius

I believe Cosby is the best team. – Darlene
