Hanover’s Blake Jones has made history.
The linebacker recently committed to Ohio University to become the first Hanover football player in school history to receive a Division I scholarship.
“It’s our first Division I commit ever,” Hanover coach Josh Just said. “We are very proud of Blake.”
The Hawks seemed to have a few sure-fire D-I prospects last season.
But all-state LB Kenny Fryman and safety Steven Fogleman ended up at Hampden-Sydney, and QB Josh Wells walked on at James Madison as a tight end.
Just believes Wells will eventually earn a scholarship there.
Jones, a four-year starter, moves to linebacker this season after playing on the defensive line for three standout seasons, earning all-district and region honors for the Hawks.
He should feel comfortable in a Bobcat uniform.
Ohio wears green and white like Jones’ Hawks.
