BLOG

Stephen Lewis, back with you once again, third game, one more to go.

It’s the bottom bracket, Douglas Freeman and Lee-Davis are set to tangle.

Stay here to know the deal here at Henrico High School.

Douglas Freeman is off to a hot start, leading 14-2 and on a 14-0 run. Chris Cook scored the first two for L-D, but it’s been all Freeman since.

Philip Rohrer has 12 of the 17 points for Freeman. He just scored on a nice fastbreak. Freeman ahead 17-8.

Full-court pressure is ******* Lee-Davis. Freeman’s scored three straight buckets on four straight turnovers for L-D.

25-10 Freeman, running away with it. Wow, impossible shot scored by Markese Watkins. His shoulders weren’t close to being square and he hits it near the buzzer.

SECOND QUARTER

Lee-Davis climbing back, down nine. Cook glides in for another two-pointer. DF up 25-18.

Just that quick, Semir Sucic puts it back to 10 on a 3-pointer.

Sucic stroked another trey, immediately off the pine Sam Hoskins scores, them Najm Turner finishes on the break. Freeman back up by 15, 37-22.

Brandon Young makes a nice move for Lee-Davis, scoring in the paint. 37-25 Freeman. Wow another, L-D only down nine points after Freeman’s defense has picked them apart.

It’ll go to the break 39-28 in favor of Freeman. Back in a moment.

THIRD QUARTER

Freeman up 12 points now, 53-41. Mac Hudgins with a slice of the lane and finish. 55-41 Freeman.

Jordan Boze, who is also a baseball star as is Hudgins, knocks in a two. 55-43, L-D down 12.

Rohrer leads the Rebels with 18 points, Cook has 13 so far.

35.6 to go in the period.

It’s 56-43 now on a Justin Mann FT. Now Mac back at the line, his first is off.

Second no good as well. L-D can cut it to 11, possibly 10. Ohhhh, Young’s shot toilet bowls out.

Mann dribbles up, hounded by Young, gets by and Patrick O’Connor nails the 3-pointer, his third of the period.

He has 14 points through three as that was a backbreaking sequence for L-D, now down 59-43.

FOURTH QUARTER

Lee-Davis back within 11 after a bucket by Cook and another by Justin Naumann. They’re a scrappy bunch.

Rohrer puts in two straight buckets. He has 26 points.

DF up 69-50 now as the final score seems inevitable with a 69-50 lead with 2:58 to go.

This game is dragging out with fouls and stoppages, but Freeman has it in hand, 82-63 with 18 seconds to go.

It’s final, 82-63 Freeman. The Rebels move on to the semifinals to face the Hermitage-Meadowbrook winner. That game is coming up in minutes.

My fabulous intern, Brittney Grove will be giving her thoughts on that one. Come back and check it out!
