Brittney Grove here covering action from the second day of the Henrico Holiday Hoops Tournament.  The Henrico Warriors are battling the Tucker Tigers for a spot in Wednesday’s championship.

The end of the first quarter has Tucker up 21-18.  Kris Walden is pacing the Warriors with 11 points.

SECOND QUARTER

Both teams fighting hard to gain a strong lead.  Tucker on top 28-26, 2:42 left to play.

Henrico’s Mike Johnson lays in 2 to tie the score at 28.

Back and forth lead changes has Tucker up 31-30 with 46 seconds left in the half.

An exciting first half comes to an end.  32-30 Tucker.  Walden finishes the half with 11, Evan Thorpe has 7 for Henrico.  Tre Caiby leads Tucker with 9.

THIRD QUARTER

Caiby picks up his 4th foul and has to take a seat with 7:18 left in the quarter.  This should be a big advantage for Henrico.

Zach Desgain starts the half hot for the Tigers with 5 points.  2:58 remaining, Tucker still leads 41-35.

Henrico is struggling to get into a rhythm on offense.

Great pass by Anthony Melton allows Darrin James to convert a 3-point play.  Tucker starting to control the game as they stretch the lead 48-37.

Three easy buckets by Tucker forces Coach Harmon to call a timeout.

The third quarter ends with Tucker grabbing the first commanding lead of the game, 50-40.

FOURTH QUARTER

Walden trying to give some life to Henrico with a great steal and easy bucket.  50-42, Tucker.

Henrico can’t seem to cut the lead down, both teams playing solid defense.  54-46, 3:42 left in the game.

Billy Davis delivers back-to-back scores for the Warriors.  56-48

Jestin Lewis knocks down a 3 for Henrico. This game is NOT over! 2:14 remaining. 56-51 Tucker

Looks like the Tigers may take this one as along as they continue to make their free-throws.  60-51, 1:15 to play.

Tucker holds on 65-61 to advance to the tournament final, Wednesday.
