Man, I’m trying to catch my breath from that girls game. Unbelievable. Stephen Lewis back with you.

Let’s hope the boys game is half as good. We have unbeaten, untied, seemingly unstoppable, No. 1 in the state Petersburg (26-0). Joining them is Central District breathren Thomas Dale.

Let’s see how things go down.

We’re about 25 minutes from the start of the contest.

FIRST QUARTER

Airek Green with a nifty move, Dale down 12-10 late in the first period.

Tyre Desmore picks up loose change and puts it in his pocket, 14-10 Petersburg after one.

Both teams look ready to play.

SECOND QUARTER

Petersburg ahead 19-10 with 5 minutes to go. DuVaughn Maxwell is playing a superb game thus far.

Dale’s star Andrew White is off on his shot. He hasn’t scored a bucket yet. Dale needs him to settle down.

Wave now ahead 20-10, timeout Dale coach Eddie Goss, 4:39 remaining in the first half.

2:37 left now, Dequantae Mason at the line for Dale, trying to cut the lead to seven points.

He does. P’Burg 21-14.

Sloppy first half for both teams, as Petersburg leads 27-18 at the half.

Malcolm King came up with a steal and conversion to end the half for the Knights.

Scoring leaders coming in a few minutes. Here we go! Petersburg – DuVaughn Maxwell 10 points, Frank Mason 7. Dale – King 6, White is 1 for 12 from the field right now, two points. Let’s see if he can rebound in the second half.

THIRD QUARTER

King starts the half off with a layup on the break. Petersburg coach Bill Lawson III doesn’t like what he sees, calls timeout.

White with a nice drive, can’t finish. Petersburg turns it over. Still sloppy play. Third time playing each other, maybe teams are feeling it out.

Petersburg is pressing to up the tempo, King finishes the break of press, Dale down five, 5:45 to go.

King just picked up his third foul, tough loss for the Knights. Rodney Williams enters.

White’s nightmare continues. I’m starting to feel bad for him. Petersburg is giving him nothing easy.

Maxwell inside for two, good pass from Kevin Green. Airek Green answers, Dale down seven, 31-24.

The lid is about to come off of this place! Frank Mason drops it back to Kevin Green who dunks on a Dale defender with two hands. Wave up 39-28. Goss quickly calls timeout.

Dale is hanging tough, handling Petersburg pressure. Now down five, 44-39 on a King putback. He’s having a helluva game.

That’s how it goes to the fourth period, Dale down five, 44-39.

FOURTH QUARTER

We have a tie game at 44 on a White three-point play. King picks up two straight assists.

Big trouble for Dale, King picks up fourth foul. I don’t agree with the call, 5:58 to go.

Spain plays Moses Malone missing a few layups, then Mason gets a steal and conversion, Burg back up four.

BIG BLOW! King fouls out trying to guard Quinton Spain. Let’s mark this point, it’s 48-46 when he goes out.

Spain hits one of two, then Rashaad Jordan turns it over for Dale. Burg 51-46, 4:21 to go.

Williams with a nice whirl and score around Spain. And 1. Let’s see if he can get three points…nope. Wave 53-48, 3:10 left.

1:49 left, Wave gets a three-point play from Maxwell, Du-V that is, 59-52 lead for Petersburg. Big play. Timeout Dale.

Frank Mason shooting one-and-one. Front end is true. Back end is nice, Burg up 61-54.

Now 62-56 with Kevin Green going to the line, 57.5 remaining. He hits the first. Second is off.

Petersburg’s putting it away now, up 10, 68-58, under 30 seconds to go.

Dale not giving up as Airek Green nails a 3-pointer while getting fouled. FT is off though, parade continues to the free-throw line.
