The Central Region boys singles quarterfinals went without many fireworks.
Two competitors advanced without dropping a game.
Deep Run’s Hunter Koontz beat Matoaca’s hard-hitting Steve Bond, and Douglas Freeman’s Zach Carl ousted Thomas Dale’s Austin Hamilton.
Cosby freshman Brett Moorehead didn’t have much trouble, either, dispatching Henrico’s Arjun Venkatasubramanian 6-1, 6-0.
Moorehead’s teammate, Tyler Carey, had a tough first set with Henrico’s Matt Zimmerman, winning 6-4.
But Carey stopped the demonstrative sophomore 6-1 to clinch a semifinal berth.
