Woodson Clinches DCIAA East Championship, Defeats Anacostia 66-46
When asked about the outcome of the HD Woodson vs. Anacostia
game on Friday, February 15th, Coach Briscoe said, “It was a very
competitive game during the first three quarters. Woodson has one of the best
teams in the area and is definitely one of the best teams in our league. They
have ten girls who play great basketball. I think they just wore us down in the
fourth quarter. My kids played as hard as they could under the circumstances.
It was a good game.”
Frank Oliver said, “Our 66-46 victory against Anacostia
concluded our regular season. We finished our regular season 10-0 in the
league. We’re 22-5 overall. We look forward to going to the playoffs. This is
our third year in a row going into the playoffs undefeated. We have to pick up
the pressure though in order to successfully compete. It’s definitely a team goal
for us to win three years in a row. It’s not easy. It takes a lot of dedication
and hard work but our girls have put in the work in the off-season and in the
classroom as well. One of our star senior players, Patrice Johnson, has a 4.15
G.P.A. and has been recruited by several schools. That’s what we are proud of,
our girls being on the honor roll, committing to college, going off to college,
but right now the business ahead is the DCIAA playoffs. We look forward to
having a third return trip to the DCIAA City Title Games.”
