Fairfax Boys’ Soccer Start Season With a 3-1 Victory Over Madison

By Sam Dowell

Fairfax

High Senior

On opening night of the 2008 boys’ soccer
season, the Fairfax Rebels treated their home fans to a 3-1 victory as they controlled the time
of possession and had the Warhawks’ on their heels all game long.

Fairfax senior Lonnie Carter got the crowd chanting his name, dazzling them with
his superb footwork and speed. He finished the game with two goals and an assist to fellow
senior Adam Ballard.

Madison‘s lone goal came from junior Charles Cela late in the second half from a rebound off a corner kick. Madison
had an excellent chance to pull within one near the end of the game, but Fairfax goalie Sean Goudarzi made a breathtaking
save.

“We played defense as a unit,
got the ball wide and played great soccer for 60 minutes,” said Fairfax Coach Kyle Morrisey. ” In an 80 minute game,
60 great minutes is a solid effort for the first game of the season.”
