Thomas Edison defensive back Corey Washington had eight
tackles and a highlight-reel touchdown Friday night in a 38-0 win over Yorktown
earning him the COX On DEMAND High School Performer of the Week.

Corey took an inside
screen pass from quarterback Levi Barber and took it down the left sideline before
leaping over a defender and somersaulting into the end zone, giving the Eagles a
14-0 lead in the first quarter.

“I knew somebody was trying to come at my legs
so I just jumped,” Washington said.

“I said before coming into the season that I
was going to jump over some people this year. I was just trying to do what I say.”

Last season
Corey had four interceptions in a regional semifinal game against Madison.

The feat
was just one interception shy of the Virginia state record held by three others
including Allen Iverson, currently of the Denver Nuggets.
