Senior Zach Leach intercepted three passes and scored on the second play of the game on a 61-yard flea-flicker in Herndons 29-28 double overtime win over defending Virginia State Champion Westfield earning him the Cox On DEMAND High School Performer of the week award.
“It feels great” said Leach after accepting the award. “Really this award goes to our whole team because we just played great as a team. I feel they deserve the credit as well because we all just came together and played awesome.”
With a win Friday night at Robinson the Hornets will play Oakton in the final week of the season for at least a share of the Concorde District championship for the first time in school history.
“We can’t let this game get to our heads” added Leach.
“We really have to play hard to beat Robinson. If we dont beat Robinson we don’t get to play for the district.”
