Edmondson's David Mackall, a 6-foot-3, 240-pound defensive end prospect, has been offered a full football scholarship to play for the University of Marylandd, his coach, Dante Jones, told DigitalSports a few minutes ago.

"I just got the call, and this is his first offer," said Jones, who guided the Red Storm to a 13-1 record and the Class 2A state championship in 2006 -- their program's first state title in football.

Mackall transferred from Woodlawn in Baltimore County last year to the Red Storm of Baltimore City, which he helped to a Class 2A North Region runner-up finish to eventual Class 2A state runner-up Eastern Tech of Baltimore County.

Mackall made 13 sacks last season for the Red Storm, which finished at 9-3.
