MALEK REDD ACCEPTS FULL SCHOLARSHIP TO CENTRAL MICHIGAN

River Hill running back-defensive back Malek Redd, a 5-foot-7, 171-pounder, has accepted a full football scholarship offer from Central Michigan, he informed DigitalSports a few minutes ago.

Redd had earlier clocked a 4.27-second clocking — a feat he accomplished twice — in the 40-yard dash during a one-day camp at the University of Michigan.

“We were just up there for a visit an, the coaches were nice,, and I talked to a few of the players. I’m going to play running back there,” Redd said. “I’m glad to get it out of the way, because there was so much stress involved. I just wanted to find a place that I can play, and now I can concentrate on my high school season.”

The offer by Central Michigan was the first for Redd, who was part of a three-pronged rushing attack which paced the Hawks through last fall’s 14-0, Class 2A state championship season.

Redd was told by the Central Michigan coaches that “they have been searching for a running back like him for a while, and they found him today,” according to River Hill assistant coach Attilio Campanaro, whose son, the Wake Forest-bound Michael Campanaro, was Redd’s running mate last fall.

Redd’s teammates, LeRon Eaddy, a linebacker prospect, has been offered full scholarships to Bowling Green as well as Central Michigan, Attilio Campanaro said.
