ZIONSVILLE – In a game that was surprisingly not close Nov. 7, Zionsville routed the Plainfield Quakers, 42-13, to capture the Class 4A Sectional 13 title. The host Eagles put the game away in the first half when they stormed to a 35-6 halftime lead against the visitors from Plainfield, who entered the contest riding an eight-game winning streak.

With a 29-point halftime lead, Zionsville worked the clock in the second half and scored just one touchdown. That score, a one-yard run by senior Carson Cramer, was set up by a nifty interception from fellow senior Noah Kramer.

Zionsville, which improved to 8-4, will hit the road next weekend after three straight tournament home games to face 4A No. 5 Indianapolis Cathedral (9-2). The sectional title won by the Eagles is their first since the 2002 season.

Plainfield, meanwhile, finishes its season with a record of 9-3.
