After Thursday’s rain delays, the Marion County Boys’ Track and Field Meet took place on Friday, May 9. The Southport Cardinals placed 11th out of 14 scoring schools.

Southport’s top scorers included junior Nick Turner, who placed fourth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.03 seconds. Sophomore Trevor Young placed fifth in the pole vault at 12 feet even. Senior Mike Case placed fifth in the discus throw with 162 feet and five inches. Junior Michael Cook placed sixth in the shot put with 49 feet and 11 inches.

The Cards are scheduled to compete in the Decatur Central sectional on Thursday at 5 p.m.
