The North Montgomery Duals are on of the best tests for a wrestling team each season. They demand seven grueling dual matches over two days against many of the top teams in Indiana. Because they are duels, and not an individual invitational, they present numerous challenges. Sometimes a match pits strength against strength. Other times a team’s strength is pitted versus another squad’s weakness, and vice versa. They are an excellent indication of a team’s position heading into the state tournament.

To that end, give the New Palestine Dragons a solid passing grade. The Dragons finished the two days of competition with a 5-2 record. Their only losses came to powerful Perry Meridian and in a close battle with Portage. The highlight of the tournament was a narrow triumph over highly respected Carmel.
