Unlike many other sports, Sagamore Conference girls track teams were spread among three sectionals Tuesday evening. As expected, Southmont and Danville experienced the most success. Those two squads just participated in an epic battle for the conference championship last week. This time around Southmont finished fifth in the South Putnam sectional and Danville was right behind in sixth. Also in that sectional, Western Boone ended ninth, Tri West 11th, and Crawfordsville 12th. At Noblesville, Lebanon took a tenth place finish, and in Lafayette Frankfort placed sixth while North Montgomery wound up 11th.

 

Here is a summary of each team’s performance
 

SOUTHMONT—Advanced five individuals and two relay teams.

   The Mounties were led by another record setting performance by their 3200 Meter Relay Team which won the event in a sectional record time of 9:43.01. Southmont also advanced their 4X400 Relay Team with a third place finish. The distance running barrage continued with Creasy Clauser winning the 800 Meters in a time of 2:19, Kylie Lippencott finishing second in the 1600 Meters and Holly Harch duplicating that in the 3200 Meters. The Mounties also advanced athletes with a 3rd in the Long Jump and a 2nd in the Pole Vault.

 

DANVILLE---Advanced four individuals and one relay team

   The Warriors got their 4 X 100 Relay Team through with a fourth place finish. That team was anchored by Jessica Coccaro who advanced individually by placing third in the 100 Meters. Danville also got advancing efforts from Lauren Callahan who was fourth in the 800 and Abigail Brewer who placed third in the 1500 Meters. The regional team was rounded out by a third place finish from Stephani Collisoon in the Pole Vault.

 

FRANKFORT---Advanced one individual and one relay team.

   The highlight for the Hot Dogs was a second place performance by Christen Kazmiecks in the Pole Vault. They also got through their 4 X 400 Relay Team.

 

WESTERN Boone—Advanced two individuals.

   The two Stars to advance are the same person. Multi-sport star Brandy Woody will go to regionals in two events. She finished third in the 400 Meters and fourth in the High Jump.

 

TRI-WEST---Advanced one individual.

   The Bruins will send Sara Blair to regionals after a fourth place performance in the Long Jump.

 

CRAWFORDSVILLE—Advanced one individual.

   Liz Fowler ended fourth in the Discus.

 

KEBANON---Did not advance

 

NORTH MONTGOMERY---Did not advance
