Staff ReportIt is no secret that sectional draws are never kind to the Sagamore Conference. That is because in most sports, baseball included, six of the teams in the league are in one sectional. That kind of makes it hard to avoid one another. Obviously this year that problem takes on added meaning for most of the teams in the conference because they are all trying to avoid top ranked Crawfordsville.

 

Well, Southmont drew the short stick. The Mounties will get first crack at the mighty Athenians. It will come in the opening game of the Danville Sectional. The winner will joust with the winner of a contest between Boone County rivals Lebanon and Western Boone. Danville and North Montgomery drew into the bye round.

 

Frankfort drew Western in the opening round at Northwestern. However, the highly regarded hosts will likely await the winner of that game. In 2A action, Tri-West will open against the hosts at the Speedway Sectional.
