RAIDERS LAUNCH ATTACK UPON THE PATRIOTS

The previously winless Harrison Raiders took advantage of several pitches around the belt in collecting 15 hits and 10 runs as they dropped the Terre Haute North Patriots by a score of 10-5 in the third game of the 8th Annual Joe Heath Classic played on the campus of McCutcheon High School. Ayrton Siple (3-for-4, run scored) and Shane Sullivan (3-for-4, triple, double, 2 rbi, 2 runs scored) each had three hits for the Lafayette squad. Ryan Black (2-for-5, double, rbi, 3 runs scored), Keegan McMindes (2-for-4, solo home run, hbp, 3 rbi), Stephen Devine (2-for-4, rbi, bb), and Blair Bankor (2-for-4, 2 runs scored) collected two hits each. Cameron Wilson came on in relief of Blair Bankor in the bottom of the fourth inning to finish the game on the mound and pick up the victory for Coach Brent Harmon’s Raiders.

Junior Billy Sisson (3-for-4, 2 doubles, rbi, 2 runs scored) led the Terre Haute North bats. Juniors Michael Eberle (2-for-5, double, rbi, stolen base) and Nick Pilipovich (2-for-3, double, hbp, run scored) added two hits each for the Patriots. Junior Jared Eller picked up a double while singles were added by seniors Joe Meggs and Brandon Dorsett.

As if 15 Raider hits were not enough of an injury to the Patriots’ chances of picking up a win, additional insult was caused by the Raiders scoring 5 runs after two outs in the inning were notched. Patriot pitchers didn’t help themselves by issuing three walks and a hit batsman. The North defense looked stellar on more than one occasion but hurt themselves as well by committing two errors and at least three more missed cutoff men from the outfield.

The Patriots (2-4) continue their road trip Monday evening at perennial Wabash Valley power Riverton Parke.
