To get a feel for this year's Bowie High School Lady Bulldogs basketball team, all one must do is be present during a player-to-player conversation after a win.
Yes, the Lady Bulldogs won easily at home over the Laurel Lady Spartans Tuesday night, 84-53, but after the game there were talks of not how many points were scored, but how many assists were dished out.
Bowie's Jasmine McIntosh who led all scorers with 26 points was not concerned about her points, but more so her assists and how she helped teammates, which goes to show the unselfish nature of the now 3-0 Lady Bulldogs.
"I tried to make sure I was on, make sure I wasn't being selfish," McIntosh said, "but when I had the open shots, I had to take them."
And not only did she take them but made them as she knocked down four three-pointers en route to her big night.
"We shared the ball tonight and it was a lot more fun for them," Bowie head coach Michael Hines said. "You could see it on their face, and so, the execution was a lot better."
On McIntosh's performance, Hines added: "This girl can shoot the ball. Not only that, she has more weapons than she thinks she has, and we are trying to pull that out of her. ... She has this capability every day, and she is a pretty good and complete player."
Bowie jumped out to an early 29-4 lead through the first quarter and cruised to a victory.
Laurel (2-2) however found its offensive rhythm as the game went on, in particular in the third quarter.
Tiffany Fails led all Laurel scorers including an outside shooting display of her own as she knocked down three three-pointers late in the third and into the early stages of the fourth.
Marche Pearson also poured in 17 points on the night.
Bowie had two additional players score in double figures as Robin Keke (18 points) and Lashana Lewis (15 points) helped lead Bowie to the victory.
"It feels great," Keke said on the team improving to 3-0. "We're not really at our fullest potential, but, we are working hard at it and we are having fun out there and that's all that counts."
"It feels great that we have a good start," said McIntosh, who is affectionately known as 'J-Mac' amongst teammates and coaches. "Hopefully we can continue it throughout the season."
