The Southport girls cross country team competed in the sectional meet at Ben Davis High School. The meet took place on Tuesday, Oct. 16th. Out of nine competing teams, the lady Cards took second place with 59 points, putting them in position to race in the upcoming regional meet.
The leading scorer for Southport was senior Nicolette Crouch in fourth place with a time of 19:34. Following Crouch was junior Kelly Hodges in ninth place with a time of 20:05, junior Emily Odle in 11th place, 20:05, sophomore Brooke Gagliola in 17th place, 21:05, and junior Katy White in 18th place, 21:12. Other varsity runners for Southport include senior Allison Zorman in 19th place and freshman Jasmine Kemp in 33rd. The team’s record is now 85-42.
Southport will be toeing the line at the regional meet on Saturday, Oct. 17th, at Ben Davis High School. The girls look to improve their record and advance into the semi-state meet.
